The Samaritans

The chosen Hebrews, not converted Jews, were the ones God had the Old Covenant with. They’re all dead.

“The LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight… And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.” 2 Kings 17:18,20

Today, the Ashkenazim comprise the majority of those who are known as Jews, whereas the Sephardim constitute the biggest minority.

SamaritansHowever, the Samaritans form a smaller minority, and are the only converted Jews that have a predominant place in the New Testament.

Since the Samaritans are not Hebrews, it is very important to understand what the bible has to say about them, while bearing in mind that 1) Abraham was a descendant of Shem – hence the term Semite or Shemite 2) his scion Jacob and his twelve sons were the true biblical Hebraic Israelite nation with whom God had the Old Covenant (not with converted Jews) 3) the true Israelite nation no longer exists, and their land inheritance expired with them.

The Kingdom of Israel was comprised of 11 of the 12 Hebrew tribes and settled the Samaria region. The tribe of Judah had its own territory and Kingdom, which came to be known as Judah or Judea. At one point, the Levite tribe left Israel and took refuge in Judah.

“For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD.” 2 Chronicles 11:14

Around 730 BC, Israel’s King Hoshea entered into an alliance with Egypt in order to throw off the Assyrian yoke. The ruse failed. Assyria took Hoshea prisoner, and in 721 BC totally destroyed the Kingdom of Israel which never rose again.

“Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble, a place for planting vineyards. I will pour her stones into the valley and lay bare her foundations.” Micah 1:6

Hebrews of the 10 tribes living in and around Samaria were slaughtered, while many were carried into captivity.

“…the children in whom you delight… will go from you into captivity.” Micah 1:16

“…it will be a time of calamity.” Micah 2:3

“I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves.” Micah 2:3

Samaria was then colonized by Asar-Haddon, King of Assyria, in 678 BC.

“The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Kuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim* and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites. They took over Samaria and lived in its towns.” 2 Kings 17:24

These people the King of Assyria brought to repopulate Samaria became known as the Samaritans. They converted to the faith of the Judahites who learned to hate them with a hatred that lingered until the time of Jesus.

“…the king of Assyria gave this order: ‘Take one of the priests and let him go and live there. Let him teach the people what the god of the land requires.’ ” 2 Kings 17:27

Now Jesus had to go through Samaria… The Samaritan woman said to him, ‘You are a Judahite and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?’ (For Judahites do not associate with Samaritans.)” John 4:4,9

During that encounter with the Samaritan woman, Jesus told her:

“You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is of Judah.” John 4:22

What He basically told her was that, “The Samaritans and the Judahites may worship the same God and share the same faith, but salvation is of Judah,” with Jesus Himself being the salvation.

The Samaritans are still around today. They are known as Samaritan Christians and Samaritan Jews. See The Word Jew is NOT in the Bible.

“Judahites and proselytes... Acts 2: 11

NOTE

It seems that people nowadays have forgotten that Ancient Israel, specifically the tribe of Judah, unlike Modern Israel, and much like Biblical Israel’s offspring, the Christian Church, was a proselytizing nation which wanted people all over the world to know and pray to the true God of the Universe, even though at one point the conversion process had become totally corrupted because of the pharisaic teachings. Let’s hear Jesus:

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” Matthew 23:15

When these folks converted they didn’t miraculously become Judahites and Hebrews. How could anyone? The people of Samaria, like all the others who converted to the religion of the ancient Judahites, only professed to adhere to the various rules of the faith. They maintained their own cultures and identities. Today they are known as Talmudic Jews, Karaite Jews, and Torah Jews. See The Word Jew is NOT in the Bible.

*ADDENDUM

Sepharvaim is distinct from Sephardim. Sepharvaim was the name for the double city of Sippara on the east and west banks of the Euphrates. It was not the name of a people. Sepharvaim means “the two Sipparas” as in the two cities of Sippara (Sippar-Yahrurum and Sippar-Ammanum). The origin of the people from the two Sipparas could very well be Sumerian.

The people from Sepharvaim are part of the Samaritans now.

  2. The bible does talk about the Samaritans and never describes them as “Jews”, which means this article, along with all the others in that subject, is right on the money, because today the modern Pharisees are called Jews and not “Hebrews”, so they’re just converts.

    Good job. Blessings.
